The Land Information Department was established by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors to coordinate the modernization of land records and to maximize the effective development, maintenance, and use of share geographic and land information system resources throughout Columbia County.

The department is responsible for the following functions: Real Property Listing and Assessment Management (WI Stats 70.09), Geographic Information System and Mapping, Land Records Modernization, Land Information Officer Duties (WI Stats 59.72), Office of the County Surveyor (WI Stats 59.74), and Coordination and Storage of Property Survey Records.
