 Public Health - Child Health    

The Columbia County Division of Health offers a wide range of services for children and their families. Public health nurses can provide information, resources and referrals and/or direct services for children in the following ways.

    Public Health Nursing

    Support for families with infants and children. Home visits or office visits may include education about infant, child care, growth, development, safety, parenting, etc. It may also include a referral to other providers or community agencies.

    WIC

    (Women, Infants, Children) Nutrition education, health assessments and provision of food vouchers for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and for children under 5 years of age.

    Health Check Services

  • Well Child Checkups are provided to children, birth-21 years of age, who are covered by Medical Assistance.

  • A comprehensive wellness check up provided by the Columbia County Division of health includes the following (as needed):

    • anemia screening. (hemoglobin)
    • developmental assessment
    • dental assessment/fluoride varnish
    • health education, age appropriate anticipatory guidance
    • hearing and vision screening
    • height, weight, and head circumference measurement
    • immunizations
    • lead screening and risk assessment.
    • Nutrition education and counseling.
    • Breast-feeding counseling.
    • Head-to-toe physical assessment
    • Tuberculin skin testing.

    For appointments: please call 608/742-9227, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; Monday through Friday to set up an appointment.

    You will need to bring your child's immunization record to all scheduled appointments.
