Public Health - Sexually Transmitted Diseases

What are STD's?

Sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) are infections that are spread from an infected person to another person during vaginal, anal or oral sexual activity.

There are currently five reportable STDs in Wisconsin:

  • Chancroid - Chancroid Fact Sheet

  • Chlamydia - Chlamydia trachomatis Fact Sheet

  • Gonorrhea - Neisseria gonorrhoeae Fact Sheet

  • PID - Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Fact Sheet

  • Syphilis - Treponema pallidum Fact Sheet

A reportable STD means that the lab and medical provider are mandated to report your STD to your local public health department.  Your local health department will be contacting you to do intervention and consultation and disease surveillance.

    AIDS/HIV/Hepatitis
AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B, C, and D are reportable communicable diseases that can be spread during sexually activity.
