The Land Information Department is a central player in supporting all land records activities in Columbia County and is the coordinating office for land records. It serves as the office of the County Surveyor, performs the County's Real Property Listing functions, and is responsible for all GIS and mapping initiatives as well as coordination and implementation of the Land Records Modernization Plan.
Columbia County, as part of its Land Records Modernization efforts, has been involved in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using ESRI's ArcGIS version 9.1 to update, recreate, store and output its tax parcel mapping efforts. In part due to this effort, Columbia County is now able to offer to the public land records data in both hard copy as well as a digital format.
Currently office staff includes five full-time employees: Director of Land Information, GIS Specialist -Property Records, GIS Specialist -Land Information, GIS Specialist -Highways & Transportation, Real Property Lister.
