~I would like to tell of my experiences with the Columbia County
ADRC transportation program. I am legally blind and unable to drive anymore. So,
needless to say, this service is very important to me. They pick me up at my
front door, and the drivers always exit the car to help me into the vehicle. I
am always on time to my appointments, and am picked at the front door of
wherever my appointment happens to be. And last but not least, for one who is
on a fixed income, the cost is minimal compared to other costs that have to be
absorbed to live day to day.
To conclude, I personally believe this is one of the best
services offered to persons with any type of disability.
~I recently took
the AARP Smart Driver course. I did this because I wanted to make sure
that my driving is as good as it can be. As we get older, it is a good
idea for us to work at being safe drivers. I learned a lot,
especially tips on handling round a bouts, proper adjustment of mirrors,
watching my speed, especially not going too slowly, being careful when turning
left and Wisconsin laws. I'm turning in my certificate to my
insurance company to see if it will lower the cost of my insurance.
This course is only a few hours, but it will greatly increase your skills
