    Active Lifestyles:

New Opportunities Everyday.. Columbia Health Care Center’s staff in the Life Enrichment Department offers a wide range of programs that are designed to provide social interaction, engagement and pleasure that is vital for a positive state of mind. These activities are not only fun, but are designed to improve cognition, memory, fluidity, versatility and adaptability function by using all five senses..

Each week, large groups of residents gather for various forms of entertainment, religious services and games. Bingo, balloon volleyball and card games are particularly popular with the residents.

Social opportunities are made available through happy hours, coffee clutch, sensory and memory groups, arts and crafts, baking and manicures. Daily exercise group consists of stretching and range of motion movements that cater to the abilities of our residents.

One-on-one time is shared with residents who have limited mobility. When the weather cooperates picnics, outdoor walks and tending to our raised flower beds on the patios, fishing and relaxing on our pier overlooking Duck Creek and excursions in the bus are always a favorite pastime.

✓Trishaw Bike: This is a program called “Cycling Without Age.” Cycling Without Age (CWA) is a movement started in Copenhagen in 2012 and are now in 40+ countries. With the assistance of a federal grant, Columbia Health Care Center has purchased a Trishaw bike (a really awesome bike for three). The bike is called a Trio and is distinguished by its large rounded, couch-like passenger box, made from laminated marine wood. The Trishaw will be an awesome tool for our residents to revive memories, connect the dots between past and present, build relationships, allow for greater socialization. We are excited to offer one of these bikes as an activity at our facility!
✓Bird Aviary: Help keep our bird aviary clean by washing the windows, changing the water/food.
✓Business Office: Help our business office staff with general office duties such as answering phones, making copies, sorting mail, assembling packets, stuffing envelopes ect…
    ✓Library:  Organize books
    ✓Visiting with residents: 1:1
    ✓Going on group outings
✓Spiritual programs: Assist residents to/from spiritual programs, bible study, playing piano, assist during services.
