SHELTER IN PLACE

IN THE EVENT A CHEMICAL INCIDENT TAKES PLACE AND YOU ARE ORDERED TO SHELTER IN PLACE, PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING:

 Stay in doors
 Close and lock all doors & windows
 Shut off all air circulation systems (air conditioners, furnaces, vent fans, clothes dryers, fireplaces)
 Seal all cracks around doors, windows, vents, air conditioners, exhaust fans, etc. with duct tape or wet towels
 If explosion is possible, cover windows by pulling shades, curtains, or drapes
 If fumes have penetrated, breathing through a wet cloth over nose and mouth may be useful for some chemicals (listen for instructions)
 Stay in room nearest center of building
 Keep telephone, radio (tuned to local station), and TV in room for future instructions

NOTE: These items are used for GENERAL PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. In the event of a real incident the Incident Commander would give future instructions.
