The Land Information Department functions as the receiving office of the County Surveyor’s records related to land information and is responsible for the indexing of surveys and corner recordation information of the County Surveyor and to maintain the Courthouse survey records. Other responsibilities include: establishing global positioning system survey markers, maintain existing National Geodetic and U.S. Geological Survey markers, survey county lands as needed, support various county departments with survey services as needed, and answer survey questions from the public at large to the extent of the departments capabilities. The County Surveyor does not do private property surveys for landowners. Private registered land surveyors must do these surveys.
