Tax Payments Information

The local treasurers mail the property tax bills in December and they are also published at the same time on the website. If you do not receive a bill, please check with your local treasurer or with the County Treasurer's Office to make sure that your correct address is on file. If you have moved, or are in the process of moving, please notify the Land Information Department of any address changes.

Warning: If not paid by due dates, installment option is lost and total tax is delinquent subject to interest and if applicable, penalty.

(see reverse)

The first installment is due and payable to your local treasurer on or before January 31st.  The postmark is used to determine whether a payment is on time.  If the installment is paid timely, the second installment is then due and payable to the Columbia County Treasurer by July 31st without interest. As stated on your tax bill, if either installment is late there will be interest and penalty charged, going back to February 1st.  Columbia County charges a penalty of 0.5% per month in addition to the 1% per month interest, as allowed per Statute.

A star in the box means unpaid prior year taxes.

The box illustrated above is similar to one located on your tax bill. If there is a star in the box on your bill, you should contact the Columbia County Treasurer's Office for further information.  Delinquent statements are sent out by the Treasurer's office several times during the year. Second half payment reminders are sent out annually in June.
