GIS Technician - Real Property Lister

Columbia County has an immediate opening for a GIS Technician - Real Property Lister.  Under the general supervision of the Director for the Land Information Department, the primary duties performed by this position are:  Compile, analyze, and process the land information documents necessary to maintain assessment records for the County. Assist with the development and maintenance of an enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS), especially pertaining to land records and related datasets using GIS software and technology.  Produces maps and provides assistance to a diverse set of departments within the County, local officials, property professionals and the general public with inquiries pertaining to land records. Interprets orthophotography, subdivision plats, land records, reviews and performs COGO (Coordinate Geometry) calculations; analyzes survey data, source maps, and other records. Principal point of contact and liaison for the county regarding training and assisting municipal assessors and local government officials with the electronic exchange and verification of assessments, special assessments, and reports for the property assessment process. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, geography or real estate economics with 3-5 years’ experience in assessing, GIS, County or State government OR any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Knowledge of departmental operations, pertinent laws, 70.09 of Wis. Statues, codes, regulations, terminology and Department of Revenue Guidelines are desirable. Knowledge of GIS and survey related concepts and techniques including a thorough understanding of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). Facilities Maintenance Technician I

Columbia County Facilities Management is recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Technician I. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk). Employee will be assigned to work at any of the Columbia County facilities maintained by Facilities Management (Administration Building/Health & Human Services/Courthouse/Sheriff’s Office/Jail/Huber). Qualifications: Any combination of training & experience equivalent to Associate Degree from an accredited technical school in heating, air conditioning and/or electronics and a minimum of two (2) years of maintenance work OR Course work in air conditioning and refrigeration, basic industrial mechanics, electronic instrumentation and/or other related courses and a minimum of three (3) years of maintenance work OR Minimum of four (4) years of responsible maintenance work. Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of air conditioning, heating and electrical systems, responsible for general maintenance, groundskeeper, and minor custodial duties. Experience with Metasys HVAC controls, security card readers, electronic door latches, camera systems, computerized workorders, and standard computer skills are a plus.  Must have valid Wisconsin Driver License and own transportation. Starting wage: $26.286 per hour (2026 rate). Social Worker - CLTS

Columbia County Health & Human Services is recruiting for a Social Worker in the Division of Behavioral Health and Long Term Support. This position involves performing duties and essential tasks for participants of the Children’s Long Term Support (CLTS) program which include but are not limited to assessing program eligibility, provide case management for assigned cases, connect families with resources, assist with making community referrals, participate in team meetings and maintain agency records. Additional tasks include facilitating and participating in development, review, and evaluation of plans of care. Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited Social Work Degree Program.  Must be certified/licensed under Wis. Stats. §457 or eligible to obtain social work certification/licensure within one year of hire and maintain licensure throughout employment; you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or other Human Service program. Requires possession of valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and personal transportation. There is a potential for advanced practice social workers to obtain supervision hours.  Starting wage: $31.755 per hour (2026 wage), for certified Social Workers and $29.819 per hour (2026 wage) for Case Workers, until certification obtained. Jailer I

Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting to fill future vacancies for a Jail Deputy. Schedule is 12-hour shifts with every other 3-day weekend off. Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent; excellent moral character; dependable; and ability to handle and control inmates. Selection process includes oral interviews, background investigation, medical & psychological evaluations, drug and alcohol screenings, county residency not required.  Hire rate $27.17 per hour. Pay may be negotiable for an exceptionally qualified candidate. Columbia County also offers the following incentives: 

•    Additional Two Dollars ($2) per hour weekend pay.  
•    Jail staff who complete five (5) years of service in the Jail shall receive a one-time payment of Two Thousand Dollard ($2,000). 
•    Jail staff who retire from the County at age fifty-five (55) or above with at least twenty-five (25) years of continuous service with the Sheriff’s Office, shall     receive Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) into a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) per year, through the age of sixty-five (65).

Qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent required; related work experience, preferably with operating two-way radio equipment; strong computer and communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively multitask, simultaneously using multiple information systems. Must possess excellent moral character; be dependable; and be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Newly hired dispatchers should expect to work traditional 2nd or 3rd shift hours. Shifts are 12 hours in length, on a two-week rotating schedule, with every other 3-day weekend off (Pitman schedule).

The selection process includes oral interviews, background investigation, medical and psychological evaluation, and drug/alcohol screening. Columbia County residency is not required. The initial hiring rate of pay is $25.52 per hour. Pay may be negotiable for an exceptionally qualified candidate. Columbia County also offers the following incentives:

• Additional Two Dollars ($2) per hour nighttime shift differential premium pay.

• Great benefits for sick time, holiday time and vacation time.

Seeking individuals to work 2-3 days per week performing courthouse security and inmate transport duties on a part time basis. This position is an armed and uniformed Special Deputy Sheriff position working for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Shifts are Monday-Friday with daytime hours.

Applicants must have been certified or certifiable by Wisconsin DOJ Training and Standards Board for either the law enforcement or jail academies and pass and maintain said State of WI certifications for Firearms, EVOC, and Defensive Tactics.
