Accounting Limited Term Employee (LTE)/Intern

Columbia County Accounting Department is recruiting for an LTE/Intern to work while there is a position vacancy in the department.  This position provides an opportunity for learning the process involved with County government as it relates to government accounting standards and regulations.  The learning experience is immeasurable in understanding the contrast in accounting practices combined with educational studies.

Highway Project Manager

Senior field manager position within Columbia County Highway & Transportation Department; responsibilities include; but are not limited to, project supervision, field management, asset program coordination, permitting, safety, quality control, traffic control, and assist Commissioner with maintaining equipment, buildings & grounds, bridges, culverts, roads, safety devices, signage, and road right-of-way on the State, County, and Town road systems within the county. WEEKEND AND NIGHT ON CALL position (including winter), assisting other managers and superintendents in the oversight of the day to day operations, serves on five (5) week on-call rotation. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent is required and a higher-level educational background in construction, technical trades, public administration, reclamation, forestry, conservation, agricultural, or engineering fields (Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree) or a minimum seven years related field experience in applicable fields. Computer knowledge and skills essential as well as dispatch supervision, public outreach coordination would be beneficial.  Valid Wisconsin Class A Commercial Drivers License with H and N endorsements within six months of hire. LTE Clerical Information Specialist - Emergency Management

Part-time immediate opening for a Limited Term Employee (“LTE”) Clerical Information Specialist for Emergency Management.  This position will support the overall operations and objectives of the Emergency Management Department under the supervision of the Emergency Management Director.  The Clerical Information Specialist is responsible for collecting, updating, and organizing operational information. Public Health Educator

Columbia County Health and Human Services is seeking a Public Health Educator.  This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week. Starting rate: $28.95 per hour. The Public Health Educator is a flexible position that works at the direction and in concert with the health officer to promote and protect the health of the community through assessment, planning, coordinating and monitoring of programs that improve health outcomes.  The Public Health Educator will focus on education, communication, strategic planning and implementation of public health prevention and response programs in a variety of areas such as chronic and communicable diseases, environmental and mental health, substance uses and emergency responsiveness.  Focus areas may change as new initiatives are developed for our community. This position will be knowledgeable in all areas of public health and serve in other roles within the department as needed. Requirements: a bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, community health education, community wellness or health related field. Youth Justice Social Worker

The Columbia County Department of Health & Human Services is recruiting for a Youth Justice Social Worker in the Division of Children and Families.  The Youth Justice Team strives to reduce recidivism and increase community protection in Columbia County by holding youth accountable, providing services, and strengthening the family foundation. Crisis Social Worker

Columbia County Health & Human Services is recruiting for a Social Worker that focuses on crisis situations in the Division of Behavioral Health and Long Term Support. Position involves working with individuals of all ages with mental illness or substance misuse disorders to promote and support their recovery. This position within the crisis team would need to have a particular interest and knowledge base of working with individuals that struggle with substance misuse. Knowledge of wraparound, community services, person centered planning, trauma informed care, and facilitating teams is preferred.  Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited Social Work Degree Program.  Must be certified/licensed under Wis. Stats. §457 or eligible to obtain social work certification/licensure within one year of hire and maintain licensure throughout employment; you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or other Human Service program. Economic Support Specialist

Columbia County Health and Human Services is hiring two full-time Economic Support Specialists to join our team. These positions are vital customer service roles that determine eligibility for public assistance programs for Columbia County and seven surrounding counties as part of the Capital Consortium. You will assist clients via inbound and outbound calls, determine eligibility for programs like FoodShare, Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Child Care, Caretaker Supplement, and Elderly, Blind, and Disabled benefits. You will maintain a caseload and accurately process applications and renewals, and apply complex rules and regulations using sound judgement. Qualifications: Associate or Business Degree from an accredited Vocational, College, or Technical School in a related field or two (2) years’ experience working with the public OR equivalent combination of training and experience. Successful completion of Wisconsin Dept. of Health Services Income Maintenance Certification (certification training provided while on the job) and successful processing of cases  and calls w/in 6 months of hire date required. Qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent required; related work experience, preferably with operating two-way radio equipment; strong computer and communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively multitask, simultaneously using multiple information systems. Must possess excellent moral character; be dependable; and be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Newly hired dispatchers should expect to work traditional 2nd or 3rd shift hours. Shifts are 12 hours in length, on a two-week rotating schedule, with every other 3-day weekend off (Pitman schedule).

The selection process includes oral interviews, background investigation, medical and psychological evaluation, and drug/alcohol screening. Columbia County residency is not required. The initial hiring rate of pay is $25.52 per hour. Pay may be negotiable for an exceptionally qualified candidate. Columbia County also offers the following incentives:

• Additional Two Dollars ($2) per hour weekend pay.

• Additional Two Dollars ($2) per hour nighttime shift differential premium pay.

Seeking individuals to work 2-3 days per week performing courthouse security and inmate transport duties on a part time basis. This position is an armed and uniformed Special Deputy Sheriff position working for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Shifts are Monday-Friday with daytime hours.
