CHCC uses familiar music stored on iPods to drive out the spirits of those living with dementia and other compromised brain disorders.
Our brain stores familiar music in a place separate from our short term memory, long term memory, speech, reasoning, etc. In other words, we have our own built in music box. Dementia generally does not damage the brain’s music box. This is why we know songs like “Happy Birthday To You” until the day we die.
When we hear songs that are already stored in our music box, our brain fires signals through that box. This is a huge thing for someone living with a compromised brain. If the brain can reroute the pathway that it uses to send signals, bypassing some of the broken/damaged parts of the brain, and if we can condition these compromised brains to reroute every time familiar music is played,
The results are amazing!!!
