What are Home Delivered Meals?
The Home Delivered Meal Program provides a hot, nutritious meal to individuals who are: age 60 and over and are unable to prepare adequate meals on their own, caregivers or spouses who are in need of respite meals, disabled co-resident of an individual age 60 or over who receives meals. Disabled individuals may also be eligible to receive meals at full cost. Please contact the ADRC for complete program qualifications and requirements. Meals are provided on a long term or short term basis. Anyone receiving this service is asked to contribute toward the cost of the meal but will not be denied due to their inability to pay.
 
How old do you have to be to qualify for congregate or meal delivery?
The Senior Nutrition Program is funded through the Older Americans Act, so in general, you must be 60 or older.
 
If want to come to congregate, do I need to pre-qualify and do I need to register I’m coming?
Anyone is welcome to attend any in person dining site as long at they make a reservation no later than 11 the day prior to dining. Anyone interested in receiving home delivered meals must call the ADRC first.
 
Can I come to congregate everyday?
Yes, as long as you make a reservation before 11 the day prior to dining.
 
How much does it cost for congregate or to have meals delivered to my home?
Per the Older Americans Act, you must be provided the opportunity to contribute toward the cost of your meal but no one is denied a meal for not being able to contribute.
 
Are there forms I have to fill out to get meals or congregate?
All in-person diners (congregate) complete a simple registration form one time per year at the dining center. Anyone interested in home-delivered meals must be assessed by the ADRC first.
 
If I want to make a contribution how do I do that?
You can contribute at the dining center but you will also receive a monthly letter with the number of meals received that month and a suggested contribution. All contributions are anonymous; staff does not who contributes or how much.
 
What do I need to do to receive meals at home?
Contact the ADRC to discuss as there are criteria in place in order to receive a home delivered meal.
 
Where do you get the meals from?
We contract with a catering service.
 
What if my meals get canceled because of weather, do you supply something for me to eat?
We do offer emergency meals before the start of the winter weather season also on a contribution basis.
 
If I’m not going to be home for a meal, who do I call to cancel for that day?
You must cancel by calling your local dining center by 11 the day prior to receiving a meal.
 
Do I get charged for a meal if I’m not home when they deliver my meal?
No one is charged for meals; they are provided on a contribution basis.
 
Where does the funding come from for the meals?
The Senior Nutrition Program is funded through the federal Americans Act as well as limited state and local funding and grants and private donations.
 
Can we receive 2 meals for my wife and me?
Each older adult is eligible to dine for us. All home delivered meal requests must be assessed prior to starting.
 
Will the driver bring my meal into my house so I don’t have to answer the door?
Yes
 
Can I get a ride to congregate?
If you live within the city limits of a dining center, transportation is offered for a flat fee of $3.00.
