Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)

Sgt. Wesley Austin-Nash teaches Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) to 5th grade students at Lewiston Elementary School (Portage School District) and Pardeeville Middle School. The DARE program is focused on social emotional learning, communication, and decision making skills to prevent students from engaging in dangerous behavior such as substance abuse. The curriculum includes lessons on being responsible, alcohol and tobacco facts and health effects, risks and consequences, resistance strategies, peer pressure, communication, bullying and being a good citizen.
