Ferry Operator

Columbia County Highway & Transportation is recruiting for Ferry Operator to operate the Ferry (Col-Sac II) across the Wisconsin River from the Village of Merrimac (Sauk County side) to the Columbia County side during the season of operation.  Full time position 40 hours per week. The Ferry Operators work twelve (12) hours per day, three (3) days on and three (3) days off throughout the ferry season.  This position will be assigned the PM shift working 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM.  After the ferry season, this employee is assigned to other duties as needed and paid the Ferry Operator classification.  Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent + 2 years’ experience/training in some type of construction field. Must have valid WI Driver's License, and a Class A, B C, D Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an N endorsement( (Tanker) OR must obtain within six (6) months of hire date. $20.787 per hour. Summer Highway LTE

Applications are being accepted for full time summer employment with Columbia County Highway & Transportation.  This opportunity is open for multiple positions including:

  • Truck Driver (2 positions):  CDL required, driving dump truck in support of construction operations throughout the county.

  • Parks Maintenance (1 position):  Wisconsin Driver’s License required, able to operate riding lawnmower, janitorial duties, able to work independently.

    Duties as assigned include various tasks related to general maintenance of highways and equipment as stated above.  Must have valid Wisconsin Drivers License.  Must be 18 years of age. Hire rate: $16.00 per hour truck driver; others $12.00 - $14.00 per hour.

Meal Site Manager
Columbia County Health & Human Services is looking for Meal Site Managers at MEAL SITE MANAGER: Columbia County Health & Human Services is looking for Meal Site Managers at the Lodi, Portage and Pardeeville senior nutrition program. Responsibilities include ordering, set up, prep of home delivered meals, delivery of meals as needed, assisting individuals needing help, clean-up, monitoring supplies, accepting donations and executing planned activities. Completion of Serving Safe Food training program within 6 months of hire. Requires a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and clean driving record, ability to maintain accurate records, ability to be courteous, pleasant and helpful to the elderly and/or disabled. Background check is required and will be completed by employer. HIRE RATE: $9.00 per hour. This position is flexible working days Monday- Friday late AM to early or mid-day PM. Laborer Recycling - Limited Term Solid Waste Facility

Deputy Sheriff

The New Administration with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for a Deputy Sheriff vacancy.  Qualifications: Minimum two-year Associate Degree or 60 credits from an accredited Technical College, College or University; a High School diploma or its equivalent; and a minimum of 18 years of age.

Requirements: State Law Enforcement Standards Board Certified or Certifiable is preferred. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. No felony or extensive misdemeanor convictions and willing to work flexible hours.
