Hardwood: Swamp White Oak  (quercus bicolor):  Growth-Fast growth rate; Height 50-75’  -Soil Type-Drought resistant.  Tolerant of poorly drained sites and frequently is found in heavy mucky soils and does well in moist to wet soils. Found in lowlands, long edges of streams and in swamps subject to flooding.  Sun-Full sun with shade tolerance. -Other- flowers in the spring.  Has a yellow to purple fall color.  Produces sweet acorns eaten by many kinds of wildlife, particularly ducks. Long-lived tree.  Hard wood commercially valuable and cut and sold as white oak.
