Hardwood: Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) - Growth Rate: (F), between 6-10’ per year; Height: 100’ tall and 40’ wide. Soil Type:  Best on moist, deep soils, does well in most soils except very dry conditions it does not tolerate or extended periods of flooding.  Sun: Does best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade with regular watering. Other:  A popular landscaping tree because of fast growth, up to 6 feet per year with a thick canopy providing shade. They work well in floodplain areas (shores of rivers, lakes, swamps). Rarely popular with deer. Very hardy tree, will tolerate road-salt, polluted soil better than most.
