Active Shooter Preparedness (A.S.P.) Training

Columbia County Sheriff's Office offers FREE
Active Shooter Preparedness (A.S.P.) training for
  Columbia County Businesses or Organizations.

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is
the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and
the worst thing you can do is nothing.

-Theodore Roosevelt

What is A.S.P.?

  • ASP is a combination of different types of response options. Both of your presenters have been certified in ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter & Evacuate) & CRASE (The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events). They have also had additional training through FEMA (Active Shooter: What You Can Do, Crisis Management for School Based Incidents & Evert Security Planning for Public Safety Professionals) & Active Attack Event Response Leadership.
  • Since 2016, more than 1,500 people have participated in ASP presentations.

What is the cost?

  • FREE - there is no cost for this training. This presentation is offered as a public service to every school, business, church, places of worship, workplace or organization within Columbia County.

Why?

  • Sheriff Brandner has committed resources to better prepare Columbia County and its residents in active shooter threats. Our goal is to keep our communities safe and empower you with survival options.
  • Because Law Enforcement cannot always get there quickly enough to stop an active shooter/killer. You may become the 1st responder.
  • 4 – 8 minutes - Average active shooter incident.
  • 19 minutes - Average Law Enforcement response to stop the threat (5 - 6 minute average Law Enforcement arrival).
  • Key concepts discussed: Evacuating, barricading, countering & disrupting.

This presentation is appropriate for ages 14 & above.
